In April 2022 Toxteth Town Halls (TTH) management discovered they were having problems with their internal computers. Specifically BT was blocking communications from their email because it had identified persistant threats against the network coming from TTH. The culprit, a phishing scam and virus.
A thorough assessment was conducted in which I isolated and tested each computer on the network until the culprit was found. How the threat emntered the network was a mix of old and unpatched software/hardware and an ineffective default firewall provided by BT.
The report I provided TTH was used in the successful capital grant application to the Clothworkers Foundation for all new computers, Network hardware; and the configuration of a firewall alongside the full installation of WiFi across the building.
